Frequency Doubling Visual Fields

The FDT (frequency doubling technology) visual field screening is able to detect the earliest signs of visual field loss which would not be detected any other way.   Early visual field loss can occur in glaucoma, progressive neurological disease (e.g. brain tumor), retinal disease and retinitis pigmentosa.

This new technology has now made it possible to perform this quick test of peripheral vision on any patient.  This instrument is the most state of the art visual field screening tool available.  We recommend that all our patients over age 10 undergo this procedure as some visual field defects are completely asymptomatic.
